SwissHema is the umbrella association of all things HEMA in Switzerland. We have been managing Swiss clubs and associations practicing HEMA since 2011. Most of the federation’s work is done inside of commissions. For each of the interests of SwissHema, there exists a corresponding commission.
Current commissions:
Competition
SwissHema organizes different competitions for the members of the federation. One of them is the Swiss Gathering.
Other responsibilities of this commission include building a competitive Swiss squad and organizing seminars in which members of the federation can improve their skills.
Openness & Safeguarding
All people are welcome at SwissHema, no matter their gender, ethnicity, etc. HEMA is diverse by definition, and this commission expands upon that.
SwissHema follows the ethical code of Swiss Olympic.
Media
Communication, photos, videos, logos for press and partners are the responsibility of this commission. They are involved in communicating what the federation is and how it is presented.
Instruction
Not just students, but also instructors are life-long learners in HEMA. This commission offers workshops, advanced trainings, webinars, competence development and much more in regards to instructing HEMA.
Safety
Who said, fighting with swords has to be dangerous? This commission concerns itself with material advice, equipment recommendations and the rules of official tournaments, to make sure HEMA remains safe to practice and injuries are prevented.
More commissions can be opened, should the general assembly see a need for them and enthusiast members are volunteering for the job. Temporarily, organizing committees can be opened. They are formed by free members and/or members of commissions for specific events or purposes.
