HEMA Training Camp in Magglingen
We are organizing a 5-day HEMA training camp in Magglingen, led by experienced instructors: Cosmas Cieplak-Mayr von Baldegg, Miro Lahtela, Ties Kool, Simon Rieger, and Jonas Bürgi. Each will lead specific training sessions during the camp.
The event is offered by the Swiss HEMA Tournament Comission and Instructor Commission. It includes workshops relevant to the Swiss HEMA monitor training program.

Cosmas Cieplak
– Mayr von Baldegg
Cosmas focuses on the works of Fiore de’i Liberi and Philippo di Vadi, as well as the Liechtenauer tradition of longsword fencing, while also training with other weapons including sabre and smallsword.
Cosmas has competed in over 200 rated matches, acquiring many individual tournament wins, has been ranked number one in the UK for the last three years, as well as winning the Wessex League Longsword championship back to back in two years.
He has taught workshops at large HEMA events, led club seminars, and conducts private lessons in London.

Miro Lathela
Miro Lahtela is a life-long martial artist who has found his true home in HEMA. He teaches German longsword and Ringen regularly at EHMS, in Helsinki, Finland.
Being an active competitor has given him insight on how to understand and apply the historical principles and techniques in an effective manner. This results in impressive tournament performance which places him among the top 10 fencers worldwide.

Ties Kool
Ties Kool began practicing HEMA in 2003 and has been deeply involved in the community ever since. In 2015, he founded HVN, now one of the largest HEMA clubs in the Netherlands, where he serves as head coach.
Ties has competed and taught internationally, earning top rankings in multiple weapon categories and leading workshops on longsword, sabre, and other disciplines. He is widely recognized for his success in tournaments, both as a fighter and as a coach.
With a background in kickboxing, powerlifting, and various other sports, he currently works as a personal trainer and nutrition coach in a Helsinki gym.

Simon Rieger
Simon specializes in teaching historical fencing to a diverse range of students, from beginners to advanced practitioners, as well as those focused on health and performance, across all age groups. His extensive training background includes practicing with multiple Viennese fencing clubs, engaging in various other sports such as kickboxing, contemporary dance, ballet, and judo, he is learning from international trainers.
He is member and coach of the Austrian national team and a co-founder of INDES Wien, the largest HEMA club in Vienna.
With his comprehensive expertise and dedication, he brings a wealth of knowledge and enthusiasm to the art of historical European martial arts.

Jonas Bürgi
Jonas has been dedicated to the longsword according to Liechtenauer since 2016. Through consistent training in both fitness and Historical European Martial Arts (HEMA), as well as by regularly attending international tournaments, he continuously optimizes his competitive skills.
Consequently, his training methods are primarily geared towards competitive fencing. The aim is to improve fundamentals of movement in order to be able to progress technically and tactically and deliver a strong performance in sparring and tournaments.
